Postcard from Normandy

Our last Holiday for this year..Unless I can persuade Hubby to have a caravan holiday to Hastings to check out the 1066 events?? Maybe If I go all doe eyed at him? A 7 hour trip on the ferry with my Mum beng a hero and driving us to the ferry port and the House ..driving on the wrong side of the road, she took to it well..Bravo Mon Mere! The boys loved France I think..they where being "pickles" all week plus I was Hormonal and grumpy. Anyways I think we took a lot in, We visited the Bayeux Tapestry, and Cathedral (Which are both stunning!). We also took In Omaha Beach and Golden Beach d-day landings. I found this hard, there where so many museum that charged a lot of money and somehow it seemed they where proifteering greatly from peoples deaths. I'm not sure where the money went , I think the french Government maintain the war memorials/cemeteries (which where too much for me to take in) . I think also when you have seen one war museum they where all pretty much the same, So I would really only recommend one, we did the overload on Omaha. French people as always so welcoming to the kiddies and the guys had a great time practising language skills. We found it odd that whilst there where a lot of houses there was also hardly anyone there , I should imagine in summer it's packed with visitors..but off season hardly any locals at all. I'm glad we managed to pack so much in.

Postcard from copenhagen

A quick stop to Copenhagen. Our current History Project is the Vikings PlusI have wanted to go for such a long time. We Have decided to Travel more. It was my very first airbnb trip and alone without hubster, I won't do it again (Apartment was great) But it seemed odd him not being there with us experiencing everything toDenmark what can I say. People are super friendly and helpful, so much happier, no rudeness . The metro system is easy to understand and much better than ours. The fact that there are not many cars and everyone bikes (seems to make for healither looking people too) The schools where great as well. The children didn't wear uniform , they played out a lot more than ours do (They don't start until 7 i think either) They taught them Parkour , sailing etc. The babies and young children went in carriages on the front of the bikes. People where playing violins at the end of piers on the beach and stripping out of business suits in their lunch breaks for a swim in the sea. It's so relaxed , I wish we could inject a little of that into our lives somehow. It really is a different way of life.Well this is what I get from a whistle stop tour anyway. We made the regional news (I put our photo forward)  http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-37295263 I am off again soon! Happy Travels all.
Artwork to great us at the Metro station.

Postcode From Edinburgh

A Totally wonderful holiday and Youngest 2nd Air flight. (It was cheaper flying than going by train or car) The last Time littlest flew was when he was 18 months old, And they all coped well..could be the lollypops they had though to stop ear popping. Something which ruined my hearing when I was 16 (Well on top of being born with an extra Eustachian tube in each ear which makes me rather hard of hearing) Anyway I digress! A cheap sun holiday to Port Seaton, Which is about an hour away from Edinburgh. The Train is as follows Catch the city link 100 to Haymarket or outside the Castle (which You can't miss either!) We got a return which you get a month to use. Then the Blue bus 26 to Seaton sands (make sure it says that as there are other number 26) That is on the opposite side to the Castle on Princes street. The stop is outside Debenhams. The bus goes about every 10-17 minutes and directly to the Site (This bus takes about an hour so make sure you use the bathroom first!)  The costs are £1.80 for a single , and £4.00 for a daily bus pass. half that price for children and £8.40 for a family day ticket. For that you can go as far as you like on that bus, back and forward. The site is the last stop , so you do not need to worry about where you get off, as it is obvious. You also need to pay with coins and the correct change, which took some getting used to!
The site itself was beautifully clean and had a nice rock pool type beach. We made sure we visited Edinburgh castle, The Tartan mill , and a few other famous landmarks. The only sad bit was wishing I had time to climb Arthurs Seat and Carton hill. But Still managed to fit in Geocaching for me. Didn't want to come home.
